August 24th - 28th 2020

This week Primary 1 T have been looking at the hungry caterpillar. We have practised our days of the week, have been looking at health foods and making caterpillar patterns. We have learned the sounds ‘m’ and ‘g’ and have started to blend some words together using robot speak. In Numeracy we have extended our knowledge of numbers by looking at the numbers 6 and 7. Next week we will count all the way from 0-10 and continue to look at these numbers over the coming weeks. Counting games at home can help with this.

September 21st - 24th

How did it get to the September weekend so quickly! Primary 1T have worked incredibly hard this first term and everyone is so proud of them. They have shown themselves to be very resilient in coming to Primary 1 after such a long period away from nursery and have coped with the level of work. We have developed our knowledge of the following sounds: s a t p i n m d g o c k ck Alongside these letters we have begun to blend short words and look at the first few common words. This is a skill we will need out whole lives especially when it comes to reading and decoding tricky, unknown words. All of these words and sounds can be found in the pupils homework poly-pockets in their school bag along with some suggested activities. November 2nd - 6th

This was a really fun week and a busy week. We have learned some new sounds ( 'f' 'l' 'ff' and 'll'). It was also writing assessment week and I cannot believe how well the class have done. Some wrote the whole story by themselves sounding out words and trying to use full stops and finger spaces in their work. I am super proud of all of them and cannot wait to see the progress they make in the coming months. Well done P1T!
